Sporting News Magazine For Sale

After six years of chasing Time Inc.'s Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine, Vulcan Ventures last week threw in the towel and put Sporting News up for sale. Despite publishing a 120-year-old magazine and extending its brand to a radio station, Web site and books, Vulcan could not muster enough brand power to build its platforms into a profitable business.
